How To Rank On The First Page Of Google With A New WordPress Blog

Let me be clear and say that getting traffic to your money site does NOT have to be hard.

There may be a few technical things that you will learn on this page, but I promise that they will not go over your head.

Why do you want your website to rank on the first page of Google?

Traffic…duh.

When people want to know something, most of the time they go straight to Google and type in exactly what they’re looking for.

Your job is to meet them on the front page with your hand raised saying, “Hey! I’ve got the answer you’re looking for.”

You want to get that person to come to your site so you can show ’em your goods.

Have you ever seen the 2005 movie Hitch with Will Smith?

Well there’s a scene where Hitch is telling Albert that he could give a woman the last “first kiss” she’ll ever have, but he just has to know what he’s doing.

Watch this video:

Oddly enough, this same concept goes for what your have to offer on your site.

Sure there’s other affiliates out there promoting the same stuff you are, but if you can stand out from the rest of the crowd, you’ll get that person to “commit” to you.

When I say commit, I’m talking about subscribing to your list or even better…buying what you have to offer.Smile

For example look at the image below.

First Page Google Rank

My little ol’ blog managed to rank #1 for the Spin Rewriter 3.0 software.

If you notice though, my target of people was a little more specific.

While most people with Empower Network blogs were just trying to promote Spin Rewriter to a broader group of people, I was actually just targeting members of Empower Network itself.

Ok, here’s the dizzle fa shizzle:

If a huge herd of people are running your way, you don’t try to stop them.

You help them get to where they want to go FASTER.

So if they feel that rewriting software will help them with their blogging, you simply provide the solution for their problem.

Keyword Research Is…

Crucial…but you don’t have to be perfect.

The idea is to start creating content and fine tune your process WHILE your taking action.

Don’t try to put all of your ducks in a row and then decide to do something.

I call it “paralysis of analysis”.

Ok, so I’ll use my powerpoint photo as an example below:

site layout

Typically you’ll have your main content in the center and a banner on the right sidebar (or the top in some cases) of your blog.

The banner normally should send a visitor to an offer as an attempt to collect their email.

Take a look at the banner below:

Lead Capture Method for Empower Network

If you click on this banner, it will take you to a capture page which will ask you for your email in exchange for the 101 Ways To Advertise Your Business.

It’s pretty straightforward.

Targeted Keywords = High ranking in Google = Website traffic = Visitors subscribing to your list (Leads)

Types of Keywords

There are 2 types of keywords: Buyer and Traffic Keywords

Buyer keywords are very specific, meaning this person is looking for details because they actually want to buy something.

Google search examples:

  • Playstation 3 2013 Model w/ 250 GB Hard Drive
  • 2013 Black Dodge Ram 1500 5.7 Hemi Extended Cab w/ black interior
  • How to market my Herbalife opportunity to retired veterans located in Texas

Now you may get lower traffic, but you will have higher conversions because these are people looking for a solution in order to take action.

Traffic keywords are more generic like controversial stuff, jokes, etc.

While these words pull in traffic, it’s not as targeted so you may have lower conversions.

Have you ever seen a site like MediaTakeOut or TMZ?

These a pretty good examples of sites pulling in traffic basically to sale Ad space.

People seem to love controversy, so these sites will get a lot of traffic.

Do we really care that Kanye West and Kim Kardashian had a baby?

Lol.

Then again, some people actually do.

Anyways…

Ok below are 2 video tutorials that you will need to follow if you’re not familiar with keyword research and optimizing your blog post.

While this keyword video is geared more towards domains, you can apply the same concepts to your blog post titles as well.
